I'm curious why you say he is hard to miss, if you can say.

My goodness, I guess you have had a high profile week up there at the NRC! I posted a little bit in this comment about the other 2 POS you mentioned that are darkening the doors at NRC just in case the names don't ring a bell with all the readers.

11/05/09 JAMES DEGORSKI received life for Brown's Chicken massacre.
A Cook County judge formally imposed a life sentence Wednesday on James Degorski for murdering seven workers at the Brown's Chicken restaurant in Palatine in 1993. A jury that convicted Degorski of the murders could not reach a unanimous vote last month to impose the death penalty, so the judge had no choice.
____________________________________________
11/11/09
WHEATON, Ill. — A suburban Chicago jury said Wednesday that a convicted murderer should be executed for the rape and killing of a 10-year-old girl kidnapped from her home 26 years ago –
Brian Dugan, who admitted yanking 10-year-old Jeanine Nicarico out of her home in 1983 and killing her should die rather than receive another life sentence. The 53-year-old, already serving a life sentence, had been convicted in two other murders, including that of a 7-year-old girl in 1985.
This is one of the cases that helped lead to landmark death penalty reforms in Illinois, including a moratorium on executions.(2 other men had previously been convicted and spent 10 years on death row for Jeanine Nicarico's murder before being exonerated)

Both of these cases were cited at Sheley's Change of Venue hearing on Nov.6. I didn't catch everything that was said during the hearing.....I have my pen burning the paper but still can't always get 100%. Now I can go back and fill in the blanks. Thanks again!katfishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17677596326492200191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7611061455662911041.post-28973064875923037802009-11-13T18:51:13.579-06:002009-11-13T18:51:13.579-06:00This is curious. If / when he is transferred to another facility, I will almost certainly know about it. Hard to miss, actually. I'll ask a few people about this detail when I get a chance.

It's been a very 'high-profile' week or so, with this scumbag, James Degorski and Brian Dugan darkening our doors.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7611061455662911041.post-8477047654746233492009-11-10T22:58:01.928-06:002009-11-10T22:58:01.928-06:00Hmmmm I followed the link and located NS. I returned a few minutes later and his inmate status is now "In Custody". Both list Parent Institution as Statesville Correctional Center. Does this mean he has now been permanently assigned to Statesville Prison?katfishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17677596326492200191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7611061455662911041.post-19587196244233552902009-11-10T13:29:05.899-06:002009-11-10T13:29:05.899-06:00Anon, Thanks so much for responding to my question...Anon, Thanks so much for responding to my question and for supplying that information.

There are a couple of court dates in the next month. One is a case management hearing for the capital case in Knox County on December 4. I don't know if they have to transport him for that....a discovery deadline, so likely just a change of paperwork.

There will be trial in Whiteside County(WC) that "the subject" (I like that moniker) has been approved by the court to testify at. His brother Joshua will be going on trial soon to face charges of concealment of a homicidal death and obstructing justice for allegedly helping "the subject" hide the death of Russell Reed,93, of Sterling.

Reed was the first known victim in the 2008 spree."The subject" wrote a letter to his brother's defense saying that he wants to testify on his brother's behalf. He said he knows what he has done and will take responsibility for it. That trial was supposed to begin on Nov. 3 but JS's attorney is sick. I think there is a pretrial hearing in WC on November 13 to set a new date. I don't believe he will take responsibility....if you have read my more recent reports you will know what I mean.

Thank you for sharing!
katkatfishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17677596326492200191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7611061455662911041.post-23464569326098315932009-11-09T20:53:41.933-06:002009-11-09T20:53:41.933-06:00It's hard to say. If his next court date is distant, he could be moved to a permanent facility; I'd guess Menard or Stateville.

It takes IDOC a few days to update their public website, and he's on there now. http://www.idoc.state.il.us/subsections/search/default.asp

Not sure if that link will translate. He's inmate number K77192 with a number of priors including firearms convictions.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7611061455662911041.post-6436599035807714692009-11-06T22:08:53.288-06:002009-11-06T22:08:53.288-06:00Anon 9:15 PM,

Rather tight security due to his history of assaulting staff. Guy looks like an everyday moron. Nothing remarkable, just creepy.

Some security staff is slightly miffed about the added security; they handle violent scum like this on a routine basis, and this turd doesn't rate exceptional precautions that might serve to augment his reputation or 'standing' among his new peers here. Not that there will be any opportunity for fraternization here.

I hope he enjoys the ambiance. NRC is very high security, 6x9 cells with solid doors (no bars), at least 23 hours per day lockup with no activity. Some of the worst food in DOC. Loud. Bad ventilation.

This is the facility where offenders get their crash course in indifference. They transition from being the defendant, the center of attention, to just another of the 1,800 assholes we house until they've found a new permanent home at one of DOC's satellite shitholes. He is now nobody.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7611061455662911041.post-71329076852930812392009-11-03T20:27:48.489-06:002009-11-03T20:27:48.489-06:00Thanks for commenting Syn ;)

She never came back, I heard she was on the run for something else....can't remember what (someone I know heard it on a police scanner they were looking for her). She hasn't been back.~shrugging shoulders~
Sheley's wife was just sentenced to 4 years in prison a week or 2 ago for breaking into a van and stealing a stereo (still had the faceplate on her when busted....geeessh!).

Birds of a feather fly together.katfishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17677596326492200191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7611061455662911041.post-39277715228889764832009-11-03T19:38:35.416-06:002009-11-03T19:38:35.416-06:00Hello Kat- :-)

He sure is a despicable monster!
You've done a fantastic job of covering this case.
His girlfriend must be out of her mind to have ever wanted anything to do with a crazed violent murderer. She must be one of those "Prison groupies" who are almost as crazy as the perps! I'm also surprised that he could find some female dumb enough to not only marry him, but to also have children by such a brutal monster as NS is. With his past criminal records of violence, etc, you'd think that would be enough to scare any female away from wanting a relationship with him.
What a shame that there are such monsters living among us!
~Syn-Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
